New Entrance for Nicholsons, Maidenhead

August 2016 - The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has given the go ahead for the Nicholsons Shopping Centre to install a new High Street Mall entrance (located at Maidenhead High Street between numbers 75a and 77) as part of centre owner and manager, Vixcroft’s, ongoing mall improvements and its wider strategy to create a cohesive town centre.

The new entrance and mall refurbishment will greatly improve links between the High Street, the Nicholsons Centre, the planned Landings development and the rail and Crossrail stations to unify the town centre.

Commenting on the planning permission for the new entrance and the improved connection to the High Street, Vixcroft chief executive, Daniel Carter said:  “Vixcroft is working with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead  to resolve and deliver a new quality mall, linking the Nicholsons  central space to the multi storey car park,  which in turn will be redeveloped to give Maidenhead a larger and improved  car park.  By connecting these vital elements, we will create a cohesive town centre.

“The new entrance will be a dramatic improvement, but more importantly, it is only an element of our plans to enhance the High Street and improve integration between the High Street, the Nicholsons Centre, the planned Landings development, and the rail and Crossrail stations, which will enhance the overall attraction of Maidenhead town centre as a place to shop, live and work.”

The refurbishment of the main High Street entrance comprises a front facade with a two storey, eight metre high canopy, creating a simplified and modern entrance to the Nicholsons Shopping Centre.

Centre manger, Jane Wright added: “The improvements to the mall and this new entrance will greatly enrich the look and the feel of the centre, benefiting visitors to the Nicholsons and our retailers.”

Haskolls Architects designed the new entrance and mall refurbishment.
